Updated date and venue
Despite the current optimism following the successful rollout of COVID vaccinations across the UK, there is still much uncertainty about how large events will be able to take place and this is combined with ongoing challenges to ensure that foreign bands can visit the UK in the autumn. It is therefore with regret that we announce the postponement of the 2021 Birmingham International Tattoo until September 2022.
However, we are pleased to announce we will move to a new venue, Birmingham Resorts World Arena, which is located at the NEC, for our 2022 Birmingham International Tattoo which will take place on Saturday 10th September 2022 at 6pm and Sunday 11th September 2022 at 2pm.
After serious consideration, and with much regret, the organisers of the Birmingham International Tattoo, scheduled to take place at the Utilita Arena Birmingham on Saturday 27th November and Sunday 27th November 2021, have postponed this year’s event to Saturday 10th September and Sunday 11th September 2022 and the Tattoo will move to the Birmingham Resorts World Arena, located at the NEC, giving easy access, improved parking for individuals, families and coaches.
Speaking about the decision, Tattoo Producer Norman Rogerson MBE said: “Although the UK is leading the way in the rollout of COVID vaccinations, there is still much uncertainty regarding large gatherings and the recent delays have shown that things are still not clear. Therefore, we feel that the current situation is still not clear enough to be able to proceed with a Tattoo this year.”
Norman added: “As the planning for each Tattoo takes considerable time and involves coordinating international performers, who may not be able to rehearse or even travel this year, we believe the best approach is to ‘mark time’ and start our planning now for 2022 when we can safely bring together some of the world’s finest Marching Bands and Spectacular Displays to our new venue – Birmingham Resorts World Arena – for Britain’s biggest indoor tattoo.”
The new Tattoo venue, Birmingham Resorts World Arena, offers an outstanding entertainment experience for artists and visitors alike. With unrivalled road, rail and air links, and large parking areas for both cars and coaches, the Resorts World Arena takes centre stage on the NEC Campus just outside Birmingham city centre. With 16 restaurants and bars, and a 50-unit outlet shopping village adjacent to the Arena, the new venue offers additional facilities for both groups and families joining us at the 2022 Birmingham International Tattoo.
The 2022 Birmingham International Tattoo will take place on Saturday 10th September 2022 at 6pm and Sunday 11th September 2022 at 2pm at the Birmingham Resorts World Arena. All tickets for the postponed Tattoo will be valid for the 2022 Birmingham International Tattoo for the same day (either Saturday or Sunday) at the new venue and in a similar seating position. Further information will be sent to purchasers by the Ticket Factory Box Office in the coming weeks.
