Birmingham to be first to start year of commemoration

Every year we remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community who have fought for our freedom in the past and those that are maintaining our security today. But 2025 is a very special year as it marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and Birmingham will host one of the first major international events to mark this milestone.

In February, the Birmingham International Tattoo at bp pulse LIVE (the new name for the Resorts World Arena) will be one of the first events to start a year-long commemoration of the end of World War II. A parade unlike any other, the 2025 Birmingham International Tattoo will bring together massed international marching bands, led by the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines and featuring the Band of the French Foreign Legion, the Central Band of the Hungarian Defence Forces and the National Marching Band plus the combined Pipes and Drums. The bands will be joined by exciting displays including the Field Gun Competition, dog-racing during the British Flyball Association competition, plus massed dancers, vocal soloists and much more.

The Birmingham Tattoo would not be complete without the ever-popular Spectacular Grand Finale. Featuring over 1,000 performers, including the Parade of the Massed Standards, as well as the Royal Air Force Cosford King’s Colour and Escort, the Tattoo will certainly be cause for plenty of celebration, pride and commemoration.

Producer Norman Rogerson MBE said: “Through the Birmingham International Tattoo each year we recognize those heroes who currently serve, or the veterans who have served, in our Armed Forces. The 2025 Tattoo will be one of the first major events to commemorate the end of the Second World War and we are grateful that the French Foreign Legion Band and the Defence Forces Band from Hungary will join our own Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines and the Pipes and Drums in this very special year.”

Whether you prefer the massed marching bands, the skirl of the pipes and drums, the fast-paced action of the field gun or the flyball dog races, or the ceremony of the massed standard bearers, there is something for everyone at the 2025 Birmingham International Tattoo at bp pulse LIVE (formerly Resorts World Arena Birmingham) on Saturday 8th February 2025 at 6pm and Sunday 9th February 2024 at 2pm. Priced from £20 for an adult ticket, with discounts available for children and seniors, tickets for the Tattoo make excellent Christmas presents. More information is available at www.bhamtattoo.com.
